Home - Journeys - Thailand 2023, November, December - Thursday, November 23, 2023

We slept pretty well at the Bann Pantai Resort in Cha-am. The breakfast is reasonable to good, just like yesterday.

The plans for today are simple, first we go to a hospital to have Pia's rash looked at. And then we want to go to the Mrigadayavan Palace between Cha-am and Hua Hin.

We drive to the hospital, the hospital of Cha-am and not one of the two hospitals in Hua Hin. We have a misunderstanding about this, but we are already at the hospital in Cha-am so we go in there. It seems quite chaotic, but that's not too bad, it is very bureaucratic and mainly focused on the use of paper.
After an hour or two, Pia is outside again, with two boxes of antihistamine and three tubes of eczema ointment, and an injection of (we assume) antihistamine.
The cause is not clear, but they are not jellyfish stings, nor are they shingles, but Pia's immune system is quite out of control. Pia does have the idea that the doctor who examined her did it seriously.

We drive back to the resort and walk to Café Amazon because we haven't had coffee yet.
When we walk back we buy a few bags of aloe vera juice to soothe the itching even further.
It is very hot and we decide while walking that we are not going to the palace, we do not want to walk in the heat, we want a foot massage. We were also massaged in the street next to the hotel, Soi 1, during our first visit to Cha-am and we go there to take a look.
It is already late, almost two o'clock and we are going to have lunch in the resort, it tastes good. During dinner we decide not to go to one of the massage parlors in the street next to the resort, we get the impression that massage is not done seriously there.
Tom then searches the internet again for options to book a hotel in Ao-nang and now we can suddenly book hotels, with a lot of discounts. We are not making a decision on this yet.

After dinner we search on the internet for massage in Cha-am and we find The Home Star on the boulevard, a fifteen minute walk. We go there and we both choose a foot massage.
It's not cheap, but it feels good afterwards. We are glad we went here and not at one of the salons in the street next to the resort.

When we walk back we decide not to go to Ao Nang tomorrow but to return to Bangkok as planned. Ao Nang means a lot of sea, and we don't know whether Pia can go into the sea or not. And Tom wants to be close to good hospitals if something goes wrong with Pia's rash.

In the evening we have dinner at A-roy where we have eaten a few times on previous trips . It is, like everywhere else in the area, not very busy. We order fried sea bass and grilled pork neck, it is tasty and the service is friendly.
Pia has a chat with an older man who helps, it turns out to be the old owner of the restaurant who is now passing the business on to his two sons.
